White Wave Foods is a company that produces non-dairy products such as milk, yogurt, almond milk, soy milk, and other milk-based products. Its production plant and offices are in City of Industry, California. The main environmental aspects of the company are the hazardous and universal waste generation, the spill control of oil and ammonia gas, the air quality control for Natural Gas combustion, and the wastewater treatment, which is handled by a contractor within the White Wave facility.

From June to August, three projects were developed during the internship. The first dealt with the 2016 environmental audit where the findings list that was generated needed to be closed. The second project focused on the improvement of the chemical handling performed during the maintenance process of the production line. The last project was to update the website where the company stored the electronic Safety Data Sheets (SDS) of the chemicals that are used in the facility.

At the end of the internship, ten open items of the findings list were closed successfully. Three new processes were created and installed to improve the chemical handling during the maintenance process improving the safety and environmental controls of the company as well. Finally, a total of 902 digital records for SDS were updated on the company website, leading to annual savings of $ 1,377 by removing old and unnecessary data that was kept online.
