Abstract:
For my Master of Arts Thesis, I created a scenario-based installation. I built a nursery that belongs to a two-headed baby. Most human beings are instilled with both intuition and logic. The two-headed baby is a physical manifestation of the canny & the uncanny. To notion this condition, I have studied traits of the uncanny and intuition and traits of the canny and logic, in order to signify these points of view in the design, decorations, furniture, and layout of the room evenly. In order to give my installation the realistic feel and look, I studied how houses and sets are built prior to constructing the room. The ambience I created has a casual, yet unsettling feeling. The intention of this piece was for the audience to consider which viewpoint their minds most often gravitate towards. My goal, on the other hand, was to make them question.
