Abstract:
My Master's` thesis is an installation. I replicated a brick wall with a window like the opening from my grandmother's house. Behind the window there will be a slowly melting wax figure, signifying change. The concept behind the work is how memory is ephemeral, where we only perceive a momentary process of time, I want the viewer to perceive the temporal dislocation of their own life. Now in today's society, we archive our memories, by storing photos and videos of moments in our devices. This creates a separate memory unit that creates a curtain between us and our experiences. We take pictures for glamour or validation, instead of actually living in experience. The Sculpture is melting to make the viewer appreciate this moment, where life is taking place and time, demonstrating the impermanence of our bodies. The wall, on the other hand, is a reminder for us that we were here in this exact moment, living.
