Abstract:
The current study reviewed 15 years of behavior analytic research that focuses on feeding disorders known as food selectivity and food refusal. A brief overview of the definition, problems, and experimental methods used to treat feeding disorders is provided. After identifying behavior analytic studies that employ single-case design methodology, studies were coded for (a) a measure of inappropriate mealtime behavior (IMB), (b) the percent of studies that showed a reduction, (c) the percent of participants that showed a reduction in IMB, and (d) the distribution of participant ages to understand intervention throughout the lifespan. The results are considered and implications for further research and practice are considered.
