This thesis is a record of my process, observations and findings during the creation of a trilogy of performative-studio works entitled Diamond Body, Diamond Realm and Vanitas, in partial fulfillment of my MFA degree in Electronic Music and Recording Media at Mills College. The emphasis of this thesis is an examination of selected and interconnected works which express materiality, embodiment and remediation as compositional means. This thesis includes a historical narration of my inspirations and a detailed analysis of the artistry and technology involved in the production of this body of work. Also included are images and supplemental video documentation which function to support the written content. The purpose of this thesis is to place my work in a greater context of electronic music and new media histories and to elucidate my practice for my peers and other readers of this paper.
