Abstract:
Skin is the largest and fastest growing organ on the human body (Skinstitut, 2017). Yet, when human beings get older and the body begins to slow, so in turn does the skin renewal process. Fortunately, due to technological advances, increasing consumer demand, and more skin care options than ever before, the skin care and spa industry is booming in the United States and worldwide. From skin care retail stores to destination spas to local day spas, the skin care industry is creating niche markets for any and all types of consumers. Skin Renewal Services at the Essentia Health--Duluth Clinic 3rd Street Building located in Duluth, Minnesota, is considered a medical spa that provides retail products and skin renewal treatments in a healthcare setting. Even though the skin care industry is ramping up, since its opening in 2011, Skin Renewal Services has experienced a steady decline and profits and sales. Due to the lack of direction, strategy and marketing efforts, Skin Renewal Services will continue to weaken unless a strong, team-driven strategic business and marketing plan is implemented for the business. As such, the purpose of this paper is to analyze Essentia Health's Skin Renewal Services and develop a marketing plan based off the current state of the business in both the local and global setting. Key applications used to establish this plan include utilization and analysis of market demographics, industry background, organizational review, service line analysis, competition, marketing tools, educational opportunities, and marketing strategies. It is possible for the business to improve and maintain financial stability by developing, implementing and executing a strategic marketing plan that is data-driven and accepted by the Skin Renewal team. In order to create a successful marketing plan for the business, a thorough investigation must be completed into the 21st Century skin care and spa industry as well as the current internal and external environment of Essentia Health's' Skin Renewal Services.
