Improving Patient Outcomes With Home Visits by Nursing Students By Marcella Hardy-Peterson This clinical scholarly project was a comparison of A1C's level of Type II diabetic patients receiving home visits compared to those patients who did not. Forty to 60- year old, uninsured adults with an A1C above eight were the vulnerable population. The home visits were supervised by myself or university faculty and provided by nursing students from three local universities. There were 23 patients, 14 in the home visit group and 9 in the group who did not receive home visits. The patients who received home visits had a decrease in A1c levels at 3 months and 6 months, were as students do improve their compliance and improve self-care management.
