This quantitative, correlational research examined if there is a relationship between high school teacher perceptions of principals' behaviors such as showing consideration and initiating structures and teacher's causes of job satisfaction. The theoretical frameworks for this research included Fielder's contingency theory and Schneider's organizational culture and climate. The study focused on teacher perceptions of principal leaders' behaviors based upon the Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire. The research participants were comprised of 114 urban public high school teachers located in Eastern Tennessee. The researcher hypothesized teacher perceptions of principal leaders' behaviors correlated with causes of teacher job satisfaction. The results from nonparametric Kendall's tau-b correlational analysis identified that there was a negative correlation between teachers' perceptions of their school leaders' behaviors and causes of job satisfaction &tgr;b = -.033, p = .64, but the results were not statistically significant. The study findings could provide some guidance regarding principal preparation programs and causes of teacher job satisfaction. .
