NALOLAN is a programme incorporating both User generated Control Language and Linguistic facilities. It is designed about a text data structure in an attempt to provide the non-specialist linguist a complete lexical record for the construction of language Dictionaries, and in particular, the Historical Dictionary of Scottish Gaelic, NALOLAN is written in IMP, a high level programming language of ALGOL type developed at Edinburgh University from ATLAS Autocode. NALOLAN is filed in compiled form on disc and is kept as a separate data set.
