Abstract:
Child sexual abuse prevention programs generally provide early childhood education, parental education, school staff education, and community awareness and resources. Child sexual abuse prevention programs have shown to be effective in enhancing awareness of child sexual abuse, reduce stigma associated with victimization, and increase rates of disclosure. The purpose of this thesis was to write a grant for the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program, an 8-week prevention program for child sexual abuse that can be conducted in a middle school setting. The program targets early intervention on child sexual abuse and increases the knowledge, skills, and comfort levels of students, parents, staff, and community regaurding child sexual abuse exposure. The curriculum utilizes different teaching methods including interactive lectures, group discussions, and hands on activities. The project also encourages and provides support to staff and parents in order to identify and understand warning signs of child sexual abuse and to support safe child sexual abuse disclosure.
