Abstract:
The purpose of this grant proposal was to develop a music therapy program for Latina domestic violence victims to be implemented at the Venice Family Clinic in Santa Monica, California. This program will help Latina women heal from trauma and empower them to report their abuse and leave the abusive relationship.
The literature review revealed that Latinas experience many barriers that prevent them from reporting domestic violence. Some of these barriers include language barriers, fear of deportation, and lack of knowledge of community resources. The grant writer also discovered that there is not a lot of research on Latina victims of domestic violence. The grant writer reviewed numerous potential funding sources. The Jewish Community Foundation as the funding source that best fit the goals and objectives of this project.
The existing submission for funding for this grant was not required for the completion of this academic project.
