The purpose of this quasi-experimental study was to evaluate the change in sports nutrition knowledge of Division III NCAA male basketball players after a webinar education intervention. This study was designed to assess change in knowledge in collegiate athletes regarding pre-, intra-, and post-exercise fueling and hydration. A pre-test was used to determine baseline knowledge. Following the pre-test, two webinars were accessed by the athletes on their own personal devices. A post-test was administered after the webinars to assess any change in knowledge. The paper questionnaire designed by the researcher reflected the material assessed in the webinars. Results of the questionnaires were analyzed using paired sample t-test and descriptive statistics. The primary findings revealed a change in sports nutrition knowledge on the subject of 'Fueling for Exercise' (p = .007, n = 10), but no change in knowledge on 'Optimal Hydration' ( p = 1.00, n = 10). The most frequently used sources for sports nutrition information among NCAA Division III athletes were doctors and internet sources. Athletic Trainers, Strength and Conditioning Specialists, and Registered Dietitians tied for third among sources consulted. Principal conclusions correlate with previous studies that Registered Dietitians are not the primary source consulted regarding sports nutrition practices. The use of web-based interventions should be considered as an effective tool in a comprehensive sports nutrition curriculum when educating athletes.
