Abstract:
This quasi-experimental study set out to find if physical activity in the classroom, provided by GoNoodle, impacts fluency rates in mathematics and literacy, and students' attitude toward school in a rural middle school. Pre- and posttest scores were compared using a mixed-model ANOVA for math fluency, literacy fluency, and attitude toward school. Math and literacy fluency was measured using AIMSweb benchmark scores. Students' attitude toward school was measured using the Student Attitude Assessment Survey-Revised. Three hundred and seventy-seven students participated in this study. The three treatment groups received instruction with GoNoodle during class for 18 weeks, while the control group only received instruction. The data revealed a marginal impact, p = .054, on the MAZE section of AIMSweb.
