Özet
This thesis presents results from an experiment performed using the OMEGA Spectrometer at the CERN SPS. The main content of the thesis covers inclusive antilambda production and a moments analysis of the Lambdap system. Previous experiments providing data on inclusive Lambda production are covered in Chapter 1 and the general features of the production are discussed and compared. This section also includes a summary of broad states that have been observed in the Lambdap and Lambdap¯ systems. Chapter 2 ccaitains a general description of the CMBGA spectrometer together with a more detailed account of the layout used in this experiment. In Chapter 3 the data reduction programmes are discussed. The limitations of the standard CMBGA event reconstruction programme RCMBO are shown. The performance of an additional programme VZERO, designed to correct for these limitations, is discussed. Chapter 4 presents a study of inclusive Lambda production in this experiment. The Feynman X and P2tau distributions are found and compared with published data. The estimated total cross section is found to be in good agreement with published data. The invariant Feynman X distribution does not scale with data at higher energy (32 and 70 GeV/c). A moments analysis of the inclusive Lambdap system is presented in Chapter 5. Evidence is found for states with spin parity 2- and 4- with masses of 2.26 and 2.45 GeV/c2 respectively, in agreement with those already reported. The variation of the moments with missing mass is discussed. Later sections cover the reactions K+p →Lambdapppi+pi- and K+p → K+ K- pi+pi-K+p. The general features of these reactions are discussed.
