Özet:
This study examined sports communications curricula at 30 accredited institutions. Using qualitative content analysis, research showed that many programs promote experiential learning opportunities in their curriculum. However, it is unclear how many hands-on opportunities are utilized with student media and other outlets. Further analysis of existing sports communications programs showed that only portions of Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory are used in course descriptions and available syllabi. Textual analysis of in-depth interviews with professionals in television sports found that time-management and critical-thinking soft skills are beneficial in the workplace. Hard skills, such as broadcast writing and video shooting and editing skills, are also beneficial.
