Özet:
This paper is designed to benefit high school students, struggling to effectively persevere through challenges of stress, anxiety, and depression. The physical, mental, emotional, and social demands of academic performance are at an all time high. Although academic standards and expectations have increased, mental health supports have not. A review of literature discusses positive health benefits associated with mindfulness-based practices. School-based interventions, such as the one proposed in this paper, are time-effective, cost-efficient, inclusive, and accessible. The purpose of this paper is to propose a semester-long mental health class for adolescents in high school settings. The class is created with a balance of structure and flexibility to address current needs of teenage students. Through psychoducation, meaningful lessons, and engaging activities, students have opportunities to improve their existing coping strategies and learn how to maintain healthy life balances through a holistic approach.
