Özet:
Oxazolidine templates containing an enoyl side-chain and derived from L-serine, L-threonine, and L-cysteine have previously exhibited antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli. The first goal of this project was to synthesize tetramic acid derivatives containing rings of various types at C-3. More specifically, the focus of this study was to prepare tetramic acid derivatives in order to determine their biological activity against a panel of bacteria and viruses. Twenty tetramic acid derivatives were successfully synthesized by reaction with various carboxylic acids. Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) was used as a coupling agent for the carboxylic acid and 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) was used as a base for this transformation.
