Employee turnover has been increasing in recent years and is a tremendous cost to many organizations. This project explores the specific causes of turnover among the workforce and what can be done to increase the retention of employees. The literature review explores current human resources theories, management practices and moves into specialized retention programs. The recommendations focus on what organizational practices help retain employees and what is done to ensure that they are happy and engaged.
