Özet:
This dissertation reviews the association of the eosinophil leukocyte with infection of the laboratory mouse with Trichinella spiralis (Nematoda), and in particular documents the biology of the eosinophil, the neutrophil and the monocyte/macrophage series of leukocytes as a prelude to experimental studies investigating mechanisms of easinophilopoiesis and poiesis of these other cells. The experimental study was an investigation of the release of an eosinophilopoietic factor (referred to as EO-GSF), as well as other cell-specific haemopoietic stimulating factors, from T.spiralis sensitized spleen cells exposed to T.spiralis stage specific antigens or heterologous nematode antigens. In addition, EO-GSF was compared to eosinophilopoietin (EPP), a low molecular weight, peptide-like substance found in the blood of mice depleted of mature eosinophils which had been shown previously to induce eosinophilopoiesis on injection into normal mice.
