Özet:
The United States of America (U.S.) is becoming increasingly diverse. "In 2012, the U.S. Census Bureau announced that for the first time, more than half (50.4 percent) of the children in the country under age five were racial/ethnic minorities, challenging the very notion of their 'minority' status" (Reid & Kagan, 2015, p. 7). The focus of this inquiry at a large public high school situated in the San Francisco Bay Area was to better understand how to increase access to equal opportunities and create a school environment where every student thrives, through applying action research. The Action Inquiry group of teachers, administrators, alumni and parents concluded it was necessary to continue the work beyond my engagement focusing on outreach and building alliances with a broad range of stakeholders, on further data gathering with a stronger sense of what data to gather for what purpose, and internal team process transparency.
