Özet:
Institutions of higher education are searching for successful strategies to increase student persistence, retention, and degree completion rates. One prominent strategy currently employed at some colleges and universities is implementing personal strengths identification and development for new undergraduate students. Research has indicated an impact in student outcomes in the aforementioned when strengths are recognized and engaged throughout the stages of degree attainment. Schools incorporating strengths-based approaches have also realized improvements in overall student performance, increased personal satisfaction, and shown numerous benefits to both learners and institutions. This qualitative case study is conducted with semi-structured, in-depth interviews describing the unique perspectives of undergraduate students having taken a strengths-based identification assessment. Special inquiry on student persistence is addressed with the study's participants, and whether identifying and developing personal strengths has an impact on the ability to persist or not persist during the postsecondary experience.
