Özet:
Using the phenomenology research method, this study looks at the lived mentorship experiences of 8 women in the tech professions and the impact mentorship has had on their professional achievements. The goal of this study is to identify themes that can be used to improve upon existing programs and to assist in the development of future mentoring programs for young women who wish to pursue a career in the technology. Findings from interviewing with the women revealed three spoken themes. The three themes include: Early experiences of having a positive relationship with a high school teacher or college professor are important; Having multiple mentoring relationships in different settings for different functioning; and the importance of having at least one supportive relationship in their environment, outside of the workplace that could be defined as a mentoring relationship (e.g., partner relationship, supportive family, and/or friendship support). Lastly, the "unsaid" is noted, and reflected upon.
