Özet:
This qualitative study sought to understand how an organization implements successful and effective talent management that results in diverse organizational leadership. The focus of this research was talent management and more specifically five components of the practice of talent management: succession planning, leadership, talent management philosophy, diversity, and culture. Data were collected using a purposive nonprobability sampling method and used LinkedIn to recruit a sample of 15 individuals who hold leadership positions at manager level and above coupled with experience in human resources talent management. Data collection was completed over three months utilizing semistructured interviews. The researcher analyzed the data collected using a 12-step method to categorize attitudes, opinions, beliefs, and experiences. The data showed that culture, succession, and diversity had the greatest influence on attempting to achieve diverse organizational leadership, which the researcher defines as ways to apply talent management and improve diversity in an organization's leadership ranks. Organizations that have practiced talent management for a decade or more have been unable to achieve diverse organizational leadership. According to the participants in this research, there was little continuity between each organization's succession plans and actual leadership promotions. The researcher used the various experiences of human resource professionals practicing talent management to identify components required to implement successful and effective talent management. The results suggest areas that offer an opportunity for further exploration and understanding of the practice of talent management. Differences among the participating human resource professionals brought to light results that may assist practitioners going forward. Among these were years of talent management experience, educational backgrounds, and industries where they worked. It recommends further areas of study for future academic researchers.
