Özet:
The global geopolitical situation has changed dramatically in the twenty-first century with events such as the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the United States' interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Arab Spring uprisings, and the emergence of violent extremist organizations (VEOs) like the Islamic State. Terrorist and insurgency organizations use brutal tactics, like suicide bombings, all around the world in order to further their objectives. In order to assist security forces and policymakers who work diligently to counter these types of threats, this dissertation explores the tactical use and migration of suicide bombings in the Levant, Pakistan, Arabian Peninsula, and West Africa using statistical and geospatial analysis made possible by the creation of a comprehensive database designed to capture suicide incident tactics, such as device types, target types, casualties, perpetrator data, "complex" events, and more.
