Özet:
The family of iron superconductors has two main components, iron chalcogenides and iron pnictides. Iron pnictides contain atoms from group 15 on the periodic table, while iron chalcogenides contain atoms from group 16. Iron selenide belongs to the iron chalcogenides subfamily and is among one of the simplest superconducting solids. In this thesis, heavily electron-doped iron selenide will be discussed and a model that attempts to recover the experimentally observed Fermi surface pockets will be presented. Angle resolve photo-emission spectroscopy (ARPES) is an experimental technique that is used to determine the electronic band structure of two dimensional materials. ARPES experiments performed on heavily electron-doped iron selenide disagree with traditional band structure calculations achieved using Density Functional Theory (DFT). An attempt to construct the correct band structure will be elucidated by studying a two-orbital Hubbard model over a square lattice. It will be shown that perfect nesting of the Fermi surface emerges within a range of hopping parameters at the limit that interactions are neglegible. Subsequently, electron-electron interactions will be accounted for within a mean-field approximation.
