Özet:
Steganography is the art of hiding information within an image, audio, or video file. Steganography varies from cryptography, which only conceals the content of the message not the existence the message itself. Steganography uses a carrier that the original message is being hidden within and not observable or hiding data inside other data. A combination of steganography and encryption can be used for an extra level of security because encrypted data is more difficult to differentiate from naturally occurring phenomena than plain text in the carrier medium such as audio or video. Steganography is a useful tool that is issued by individuals to covertly transmit information over a communications channel that can be in the form of video, audio, or print. This paper considers how images can be used as a carrier to hide messages, and further analyzes tools that both covertly hide information that includes hiding data by manipulating or hiding data in the white space of a file. The project also looks at technology and various concepts of steganography, a brief history of steganography, some of the stenographic techniques, the current status in the computer age, and how it relates this to forensic, security, and legal issues. Cybercrime acts will also be discussed with emphasis on international and U.S. law and how various applications can be used for both legal and illegal acts while also looking to the future on how cybercrime will continue to change and evolve.
