Özet:
The following study contains the methodology of a single-case study for examining creativity and intrinsic motivation in the workplace. Qualitative data collection is intended to reveal the lived experiences of a sample of volunteer public service employees and labor union members in a Mid-western State. Qualitative data was obtained through telephone interviews of volunteers for inquiry of personal experience with creativity and intrinsic motivation in the workplace. The purpose of the single-case study is to explore the source of motivation for determining creative solutions to unanticipated problems in structured workplaces. The exploration includes interviews and the collection of artifacts from a sample of ten workers in public service and labor unions. Accompanying the proposal and methodology is a review of literature illustrating pertinent studies, seminal research in workplace motivations, and the role of creative problem solving in the absence of workplace protocols. The outcome of the study is the revelation that some workers in structured workplaces were intrinsically motivated to find creative solutions to spontaneous problems lacking predetermined solutions.
